It's My Birthday!!

Yes. It's my birthday. It makes me miss even home more. Dad, mum and little sis wish me face to face (video conferencing of course) right when the clock strikes twelve. Then kor wishes me. I miss you guys!! After that, Nelson did something very sweet.

The contents? Well, I'm not sharing them. They're for my eyes only :)

The next day, Nelson wakes me up VERY early (9 a.m.). He wants to bring me someplace special on my birthday :D This is the earliest Saturday I had since I-don’t-know-when. I got up, had a quick bite and get ready coz he said that our ride is coming to pick us up at 10. And so, we went to wait for our ride to come (I don’t like people waiting for me). The weather was quite okay. Not too sunny nor is it raining. This was how I look like (belum bangun tidur’s face).

We waited for bout five minutes for our ride to come. It will be definitely be the longest limo you'll ever see. Unfortunately, the ride can't take us straight to where we want to go. So we have to change to another shorter limo to get there.

And so we got to the first stop of the day. Let me give you a little clue so that you can guess where we were.

Got it? No! It's not the zoo nor the aquarium. Sigh~ Let me give you a more obvious clue.

Yeah. We went to Melbourne's Observation Deck at the Rialto Tower. It's like our Menara KL. Haven't been to Menara KL, but come to Menara Melbourne instead.

It's 253 metres tall and offers a 360° view as its logo implies. We can see all of Melbourne and its surroundings from there. On top of Melbourne on my birthday! How cool is that? It took bout 40 seconds on its fast lift to get to the observation deck on Level 55. Here are some pictures to share.

The weather changes from okay to cloudy to rainy and back to okay. All while we were on the tower (bout 2 hours). What did I say bout the weather in Melbourne? Sigh~ They have 2 outdoor viewing balconies and 11 binoculars (with auto focus, if I might add) around the deck. Let's take a look at the warning sign before we proceed to the balcony.

Ah-ha. Keep that in mind. Even a tiny thing will have a huge impact if it hits someone given the height we're at. And this is us at the open viewing balcony.

It was very windy. Almost got blown away again. Thank goodness for the cage-like thing surrounding the balcony. Though I think it makes the place look like a prison and spoilt the whole view, it's all for the safety purposes. After we're satisfied with all the photos we've taken and going around the tower a few rounds, we moved on to the next stop by our limo.

Our limo dropped us right in front of Melbourne central.

We went to shop around for a while till it's time for what we went there for. The Director's Suite. We had an appointment with the director at 1.30 p.m. But we went up early (bout 1.15 p.m.) to take a look around and snap some pictures.

And then it's time to meet the directors. We showed our pass and a pretty lady escort us in. There were two directors, Director 1 and Director 2.

We had our simple lunch here (pizza, chips & mocha) and enjoy the show. The Young Victoria is quite a good movie. It's about the life of young Queen Victoria of United Kingdom and her romance with Prince Albert. Just the kind of movie I like. Looking at the costumes and the settings pretty much bring us back to the era of her reign. And did I mention that it's pretty accurate in terms of historical facts? Watching while munching our lunch and with the inclined seats? It's just perfect!

After the movie, our limo was just there waiting to take us to our next stop. Docklands. We went to Harbour Town, the outdoor shopping precinct with a lot of designer outlets.

There are Levi's, Esprit, MNG etc. and some shops with weird names too.

It's a shopping haven. But I wasn't in the mood to shop. Perhaps another day. And so went to find some other interesting things to do besides shopping.

Then we got to the Waterfront City Marina, which is the biggest marina in Melbourne. Before we proceed, let's take a look at the warnings. Thou shall not dive, swim, skate etc. etc.

Fortunate for us, we manage to get on board Entreprize and snap a few pictures. We even get to go below the deck and take a little peek at the crews quarters.

Next was of course, our romantic dinner. This time we didn't go there by limo, but by our yacht:

We took a long stroll around the place before hitting the restaurant since our dinner reservation was at six. New Quay Victoria Harbour is the place where you can find a lot of Australia's best restaurants and good food if you have the $$$. This was where we had our romantic dinner:

There were no candles, but the lights were dim. Ok-lah. Quite romantic. Then it's time to decide what to have for dinner. Big decision. Help me out! Don't keep snapping pictures!

Finally we've decided to order a main to share and save our tummy for desserts. This is what we had:

Linguini with prawns, mussels, crab, fish & calamari tossed in chili, garlic and parsley

Warm chocolate soufflĂ© with bourbon vanilla ice cream and cinnamon infused cream (left) and Trio of chocolate – Royal feuilletine bar, creamy chocolate ice cream, and chocolate cigar (right)

They look good don't they? And tasted yummy too! Don't underestimate the food. They are super filling! We were too full by the time we left the restaurant and took another long walk. THe night scene at Docklands is magnificent. That's Bolte bridge in the picture. It's a large twin Cantilever bridge which spans the Yarra River and Victoria Harbour.

After that, we catch our limo and go to the last stop for the day. Back to Rialto's tower. The pass is a all-day pass. Why waste it? We went back to see a whole new different side of Melbourne from the deck. The night view is even more beautiful than it looks in the day.

Overall, it's a perfect and special day. Special not because it's my birthday but because people all around me made it special for me. Thank you all for your wishes. They mean a lot to me! It makes me feel that I'm not forgotten, and that there are a lot of people who cares for me. You know who you are :) Thank you!
